The free and unrestricted access of any person in Romania to information of public interest, as defined by Law no. 544/2001, is one of the fundamental principles governing the relationship between individuals and public institutions.
The Genomics Research and Development Institute ensures free and unrestricted access to information of public interest to the public and the media. In order to best achieve its objectives, the GRDI promotes the principle of transparency and the citizen's right to information.
Information ofpublic interest shall mean any information concerning or resulting from the activities of a public authority or public institution, regardless of the medium, form, or manner of expression of the information.
The processing of requests for information of public interest shall be carried out in compliance with the provisions of Law no. 544/2001, art. 6, para. (3):
"(3) The written request for information of public interest shall include the following elements:
- the public authority or institution to which the request is addressed;
- the information requested, formulated in such a way as to enable the public authority or institution to identify the information of public interest;
- the surname, forename, and signature of the applicant, as well as the address at which a reply is requested."
