First newsletter of the European project Beyond One Million Genomes Plus (B1MGPlus) has as its main topic the launch of this initiative at the conference organized in Bucharest by the Institute for Research and Development in Genomics (ICDG), the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMFCD) and the Health Commissions of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies on 10-13 March 2025, at the Parliament Palace.
Funded by the European Commission through the Digital Europe Program, B1MGplus continues the efforts of the B1MG project (2020-2023), supporting the integration of genomics into Europe's health systems. The conference brought together some of the leading European country representatives in the field of genomics and genomics experts from around the world.
It was a great honor for Romania, the CGDI and the UMFCD, to be designated as the organizers of this conference and to put together a successful four-day event, including both the main conference and two associated workshops. One of the two workshops described in the Newsletter is focused on "Health Economics", an area to which the CGDI contributes to the B1MGPlus project.
The conference, the discussions held and the recommendations received contribute significantly to the development of the National Strategy for Genomic Medicine and to Romania's visibility at European level.
