Mrs. Prof. Univ. Dr. Maria Puiu joins the CGDI team

As of December 15, 2024, Mrs. Prof. Univ. Dr. Maria Puiu, primary physician in medical genetics and coordinator of the Regional Center of Medical Genetics Timiș, has joined the team of the Institute for Research-Development in Genomics.

Professor Maria Puiu will coordinate the work of the newly established Center for Genomic Medicine, which aims to ensure equitable access to genomic medicine in Romania.

"We are pleased that Professor Maria Puiu has joined the CGDI team and we are convinced that together with her we will be able to develop genomic medicine in Romania, together with the National Genomic Medicine Network. We have proposed that immediately after the holidays, she will represent the genomic medicine direction for the Institute and the initiatives it is part of," said Director General Dr. Octavian Bucur.

Dr. Maria Puiu is a medical geneticist with a remarkable experience in the field of genetics and genomic medicine. She has coordinated the Regional Center of Medical Genetics Timiș since 2014, contributing significantly to the development of the national medical genetics infrastructure and network.

Throughout her career, Dr. Maria Puiu has been involved in numerous national and international projects, playing a key role in the diagnosis and management of genetic diseases. Her extensive experience and commitment to excellence have made her a respected leader in the field.

His extensive experience in medical genetics will support the mission of the CGDI to provide innovative solutions for public health.
