
The Institute for Research-Development in Genomics (CGDI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. Prof. Univ. Dr. Maria Puiu, a primary physician in medical genetics, a founding member of the National Alliance for Rare Diseases Romania(https://www.bolirareromania.ro/) and a recognized authority in the field of rare diseases and medical genetics, as Deputy Director General.
In this position, Ms. Prof. Univ. Dr. Maria Puiu will coordinate the work of the Center for Genomic Medicine, a recently launched initiative that aims to facilitate equitable access to genomic medicine for patients across the country. Through its vision and expertise, the CGDI Center for Genomic Medicine aims to become a reference point in the development and application of genomic innovations in medical practice.
With an exceptional career and extensive experience in the field of genetics, Mrs. Professor has contributed significantly to the development of the national infrastructure of medical genetics. Since 2014, she has successfully coordinated the Timiș Regional Center of Medical Genetics, becoming a leader in the diagnosis and management of complex genetic diseases. She has also been involved in numerous national and international research projects, making a valuable contribution to the advancement of the field of genetics in Romania.
Through her dedication to excellence and innovation, Mrs. Prof. Univ. Dr. Maria Puiu makes a special contribution in support of the strategic goals of the CGDI. Together with the Institute's team, she will contribute to the advancement of genomics research and to the consolidation of Romania's position on the world map of precision medicine.
