CGDI at HealthTech Forum 2025 - Innovation and education in genomics and artificial intelligence

On October 9-10, 2025, the CGDI team was present at the HealthTech Forum, an event held in Bucharest, which brought together researchers, government leaders and private sector representatives around technology and artificial intelligence applied to health.

Conf univ. Dr. Relu Cocos, coordinator of the genome sequencing activity in the CGDI, together with his team, presented for the first time a complete video tutorial on the Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) protocol, launched on the e-learning platform of UMFCD. This educational material (IDF project: CNFIS-FDI-2025-F-0694) - unique in Romania - provides medical students with a step-by-step walkthrough of the WES sequencing process, through a video of over one hour, 18 detailed infographics, 12 visual boards and integrated audio explanations.
🎥 The tutorial marks an important step towards practical and digital training in genomics for the next generation of clinicians and researchers.

In parallel, Dr. Mircea Crețu, bioinformatician, was invited to the panel "Building AI-ready Healthcare", together with representatives from the private AI community (UIPath, DRUID AI), journalists, international researchers and the President of the Romanian Digitization Agency (RDA).
The challenges and opportunities for responsible adoption of AI in healthcare were discussed from the perspective of research, industry, public communication and governmental framework. Among the main conclusions: the need for robust infrastructure, predictable funding and transparent dissemination to increase patient and societal trust in new technologies.

💡 By participating in HealthTech Forum 2025, the CGDI continues to bring the latest directions in genomics and artificial intelligence applied to health closer to the medical community.
