The team of the Institute for Research and Development in Genomics (ICDG) participated in Smart Diaspora 2025, an event organized in Cluj-Napoca, between 4 and 7 November 2025, dedicated to connecting Romanian researchers from the country and the diaspora, under the aegis of the "Science and Innovation for the Future of Romania" dialogue.
CGDI was co-organizer of Workshop 4 "The importance of systemic genomics - human, animal, plant, micro-organisms - in modeling and calibrating public policies in food, health and environment".
In the official opening, Mr. Adrian Curaj highlighted genomics as one of the emerging directions of Romanian research and mentioned the CGDI as an example of good practice in reintegrating diaspora researchers who have returned to contribute to the development of this strategic field.
During the event, CGDI representatives presented the main activities, projects and research directions of the institute, focusing on:
- genomic medicine and the implementation of next-generation sequencing (NGS) in medical research and practice;
- developing the national genomics and bioinformatics infrastructure;
- interdisciplinary collaborative projects with partners in Europe and the United States.
We are glad to contribute to the strengthening of the Romanian scientific community and to the promotion of genomics as a strategic field for health and technological innovation and we thank the National Research Authority, UEFISCDI and all the organizers!
