Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC) is the 6th most common cancer worldwide. Despite recent advances in diagnosis and conventional treatment options, HNSCC remains a devastating and difficult disease to treat. However, about 50% of HNSCC cases can be cured, especially if detected in the early stages or if associated with HPV-positive infection.

The Institute for Research-Development in Genomics, in collaboration with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila, invites you to learn more about this topic from one of the leaders in this field, Prof. Evgeny Izumchenko, expert in tumor biology, molecular oncology, immunogenetics and genomic technologies. Through his training at prestigious institutions, including Ben-Gurion University, University of Florida, Johns Hopkins University and University of Chicago, he has made key contributions in genomic stability, clonal evolution and biomarker development for early cancer detection. He is currently coordinating interdisciplinary programs focused on molecular mechanisms of head and neck cancer, treatment resistance and identification of novel therapeutic targets.

The presentation will address:

🔹 Developing non-invasive tests for early cancer detection

🔹 New strategies to reduce systemic toxicity in cancer treatment

🔹 Identifying vulnerabilities with therapeutic potential

The event provides an integrated perspective on an evolving field, combining fundamental research, computational analysis and clinical applications.
