On April 16, 2025, Dr. Octavian Bucur, Director General of the Institute for Genomics Research and Development in Bucharest, presented the vision and strategic directions of the CGDI at the first meeting of the European ELRIN Consortium (European long-read sequencing initiative https://www.elrin-network.eu/)
The presentation emphasized the strategic role of the CGDI in the genomics research landscape in Romania and Europe, the main research directions, highlighting also the institute's contribution to Romania's integration in major European initiatives in the field, such as 1+ Million Genomes, Genomic Data Infrastructure and Genome of Europe and the progress at national level.
The CGDI's participation in the ELRIN Consortium reflects its commitment to scientific excellence and cross-border collaboration, with the aim of accelerating the application of genomics research for the benefit of patients in Central and Eastern Europe.
