Workshops on NGS sequencing and bioinformatics analysis

The University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Carol Davila" in Bucharest and the Institute for Research and Development in Genomics have organized two premiere events:

Practical NGS sequencing session - Participants had the opportunity to experience the entire genomic sequencing workflow. The hands-on training included DNA isolation and fluorimetric quantification, purification of DNA library fragments at varying magnetic bead ratios and targeted hybridization of exomic regions for library generation, and the use of next-generation sequencing technologies to obtain high-quality data essential in advanced genomic research.

Hands-on workshop on bioinformatics analysis of genomic data - An extremely valuable event with lecturers from the CGDI and the University of Southern California, deCODE Genetics - Iceland and Hartwig Medical Foundation - The Netherlands, who introduced participants to bioinformatics analysis technologies and shared best practice examples and hands-on programming sessions for analyzing genomic data.

These events will resume in 2025, continuing the process of strengthening genomics research in Romania.

Thank you to all lecturers and participants for their involvement and contribution to the progress of genomics research!
