From September 8-10, 2025, the Director General of the CGDI, Dr. Octavian Bucur, together with Dr. Mircea Crețu, coordinator of the bioinformatics team at the CGDI, represented Romania at two European reference meetings in the field of genomics and data infrastructures.
Dr. Octavian Bucur attended the "1+ Million Genomes" meeting , a strategic European project aiming at the large-scale integration and use of genomic data for medical research and innovation. In parallel, Dr. Mircea Crețu was present at the Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI, Pillar 2) meeting, dedicated to the development and coordination of digital infrastructures for the responsible management and use of genomic data at European level.
The two CGDI representatives also took part in the event associated with these initiatives: "Personalized medicine and beyond: Supporting a data-driven healthcare system", organized by the Danish National Genome Center, which brought together experts and decision-makers from across Europe to discuss the prospects for personalized medicine and how genomic data can support the transformation of healthcare systems.
Through this participation, the CGDI confirms Romania's active involvement in major European projects in the field of genomics and personalized medicine, while strengthening the institution's role in international scientific and technological collaboration networks.
